There are some so-called experts out there who suggest keeping things like chewing gum and granola bars in the back of your car for riders.

Experience has taught me that anything you leave in the back of your car for strangers you should be prepared to clean up yourself, including in a chewed or crumbled state. I only keep bottles of water, small boxes of tissues (the stand-up tube variety) and maybe a vial of hand sanitizer in the seat backs or in the middle island.

Bottles of water at Costco or Target cost you 7-10 cents apiece if you buy them in bulk and will go a long way towards showing you go the extra mile for your riders.
