Script of Boston Marathon Qualifiers Guide Introductory Video

Welcome to the home page of Bill’s Boston Marathon Qualifiers Guide.  I’m wearing the shirt from my first marathon way back in 2002.

There are now 40 marathons listed on Bill’s List which are USA Track and Field certified courses which you can run to qualify for Boston, just like I did at Chicago in 2006.  Those races which were not listed on the Boston Athletic Association website as qualifiers have screen captures of the official race website page which confirms they’re a Boston Qualifier.  Please, if you’re looking to qualify for the Boston Marathon, confirm on the official race website that the race is still a Qualifier before you sign up to run, and, if something has changed, let me know asap.

Note that each race in my growing list has the month, city, last winning time and field size also listed.  I am a firm believer that win time and field size are important; if a race has a fast win time and a huge number of runners, it’s probably a fast course with lots of aid stations, clear course markers, etc. and you’ll probably have a better experience than otherwise.  See the Faster Factor links which illustrate this.

Also note that I am just getting started.  Comment on the site or on this video with races I should add, and, if those races are Boston Qualifiers, I’ll be sure to do so.
