Bill’s hometown of Austin is the capital of Texas and the seat of Travis County, with small portions extending into Hays and Williamson counties. It’s the 11th-most populous city in the United States as of the beginning of a new decade (not to mention being the fastest-growing) and the 4th-most populous city in Texas (after Houston, San Antonio and Dallas).

As of July 2017, Austin proper had a population of 950,715, up from 790,491 in 2010, and the metro area had an estimated population of 2,115,827 as of July 2017. Located in the Hill Country of Central Texas, Austin is home to numerous lakes, rivers, and waterways, including Lady Bird Lake and Lake Travis on the Colorado River (the river which passes through the heart of the city), Barton Springs, McKinney Falls, and Lake Walter E. Long.
