Running by Bill Hammons

The Running of Bill Hammons

In addition to writing, you could argue that the other main endeavor of the life of W.R. “Bill” Hammons is running. I’ve run 10 marathons, including the 2006 Boston marathon (Boston, at least last I checked, is the only marathon that hands-down you have to run another marathon to qualify for, and I qualified at Chicago in 2005 with a 3:09:24) as well as an ultramarathon (I ran the 2006 LeGrizz 50-Miler in the Montana wildnerness).

The English tutor in me was tempted to put all of the above in the simple past tense, but the present perfect seems, well, more perfect. Stay tuned, as 1) I might restart Bill’s Boston Marathon Qualifiers Guide with this site or another site in the future and 2) I might use my passion for running to promote one or two other endeavors. More later!

And yes, I have run Boston.

And no, I neither took that picture above nor did I stop.

Also, I’ve recently discovered push-ups as a great supplement to daily (when possible) runs (and just like you can pretty much run anywhere, you can do push-ups anywhere; this is an important consideration when you consider my digital nomad lifestyle). I’ve discovered that just one set of push-ups before I hit the shower (I’m currently up to sets of 44), helps me sleep longer and more deeply (and here are many other benefits that ring true).
