Yes, in case you haven’t heard, the seventh installment in the venerable Civilization series is coming out February 2025, and this hard-core Civ fan / seasoned English tutor (I have 124 5-star reviews on Preply alone, as of this writing) is taking this opportunity to offer English lessons based on Civ 6 (for now) and Civ 7 (once it releases in February).

This approach to learning the English language more or less in its totality in a fun and engaging way might most appeal to young learners (and, by extension, the aspirations of their parents), but, in any event, anyone who’s at all familiar with this 30-year-old strategy game series should instantly see the advantages of this approach (think of this program as “improved English in 500 turns-lessons”). The game and its in-game Civilopedia include perhaps 1000s of pages of complex and in-depth text explaining, for example, why Petra the wonder is important and how it helps a player in the game.
