Nomad Packing List
The International Packing List of a Digital Nomad
(Growing in length)
3-Outlet Power Strip - This comes in handy for 2+ devices when outlets are few and far between, including on trains
Adapters - Research in advance what adapters you might need in any country or region you’re headed to
Backpack - I try to keep the flying a minimum (I prefer trains), but a backpack comes in handy as a carry-on
Clothes - I keep the clean clothes stacked on top and the dirty clothes stacked at bottom
Dove soap - Avoid harsh hotel and Airbnb soaps that can dry your skin, especially in places where the water quality is not perfect (dry skin and dirty water is not a good combo). Also, bars of Dove are available in most corner shops in the world.
Gloves (wool) - See “Hat (wool)”
Hat (giggle) (The giggle hat is the Australian version of the boonie hat) - Helpful until it’s freezing, at which point it’s wool
Hat (wool) - Goes well with gloves
Honey - This is one food item that doesn’t spoil
Laptop - See “adapters” above; If you’re headed overseas with a US computer (or phone) you’ll need an adapater
Passport - Keep in a safe place, and be sure you have enough space for stamps
Phone - It’s 2.5 years into my global journey and I’m still on my Verizon International Plan, so I suppose it’s worth it?
Power cords - See “adapters” above
Rucksack - This is where it all goes; experience with the Old World’s cobblestone streets will make you a believer
Shoes - A good pair of high-stability running shoes are good to wear on your way out the door, and another pair (of dress shoes) is in plastic at the bottom of my rucksack
Socks - Much like I do with the underwear, I keep the clean socks knotted and stuffed down the sides to make use of room
Swiss Army knife - A versatile tool to have, though note you can’t include knives in your air travel carry-on bag
Underwear - I keep the clean pairs rolled up and tucked vertically down the sides to make the most use of space
Wallet - Keep in a safe place, preferably with US dollars in it
